As you may have heard, used car salesman have gotten a bad reputation! NOOOO REALLLY. Yep I agree, Couldn’t be. Well it does matter, ask a friend or relative about their last car buying experience, this is a test it is ONLY a test. Did they remember the dealership where they bought the car? Do they remember the sales person that helped them buy their car? Was it a good experience or was is it just short of stepping into hell? I hear it everyday “those guys down the street are !*&^%%$#” “They did this, they didn’t do that and we hate buying cars!” I’ve bought cars too and have had both the good and the bad. I would invite you to give me your last car buying experience. Maybe a friend or a relative has had an experience you would like to share?C’mon Give it a shot!!!

Thank you

I have had good dealings with a used car lot and have purchased five vehicles from them. Treating a woman the same as a man goes a long way in my book, and I’ve experienced salesmen showing me the “pretty paint job”, etc. Once you find a great salesman, stick with them; they like repeated business and recommendations to friends and family.
I want a 2008 Lexus IS250 AWD black on black $10k back of book…and 0% interest for 72 months. Nice Blog….great idea….SLACKER!lol Tell Mark I said Hello.

Pally, I will get back to you on the Lexus and those financing options may be a little light on the rate though! LOL Thanks for your 2 cents, Thanks for your service out there in DC.
Seems to me that being an effective sales person is about building relationships. Whether it’s cars, computers, or HVAC systems. We live in an age of access to information. We can determine the price and quality of something with a quick internet search. The difference all comes down to service. Personal integrity and great service are important attributes for being a good car salesman. I certainly think who you buy a car from matters much more than who you buy groceries from. It’s a major purchase. Last 3 cars I’ve bought the sales person has been gone within 60 days of my purchase. On this last car I went to the sales manager (who has stayed the same) and asked him to refer me to one of his top three sales people. I ended up with a guy who was committed to the business, knew what he was talking about, gave great service. Did what he said he was going to do. AND has been there for the last 2 years! I’ve given him several referrals.
I don’t really have any great stories but I know my dad buys from the same dealer every time. We did have a good experience with buying a used Dodge Mega Cab. The guy was honest, not too forward, let us look at the bluebook on his computer, put a movie in for the kids. I’d deal with him again…well, that is if you weren’t around

Brian, Thank you! I couldn’t agree with you more. The information age has evolved every aspect of sales giving the consumer a ‘fair’ shot at making the best deal. In my own practice I believe that people are just buying a car they are also buying me, a small piece, but none the less me and the service I provide. A sales person is only as good as the relationships he/she has cultivated and fostered. I look at every day in sales as an opportunity to make a new friend and provide the best long term service to all my friends and family.
Brian Thanks again!
Stacy, Thank you! I respect that about your dad, I have had the blessing of having several customers just like him that will “only” come to me to buy a car. I have been in and around the car business for the better part of 13 years and have made great customers into great friends. It becomes more like family each and every time we put a deal together. I trust them, they trust me and we all understand where the rubber hits the road.
Thank you again

To be honest I don’t remember much about my last car buying experience (maybe because it was 16 years ago), but I do know this, the sales person makes a big difference in the deal. I have been around the car business for a little while now and gotten to know some of the sales people and there are a few out there, NOT at Taylors, that I would never go to. I believe that you are not only selling the car but you are selling yourself and if the customer doesn’t like the sales person they won’t come back. From what I have personally seen @ Taylor’s the sales people really put themselve out there and treat every customer like family, not like some joe off the streets. I will keep referring all my friends and family to the dealership.
Jodi,Thank you!
